Ivan
Posavec

Ivan Posavec was born in 1951 in Dužica near Sisak. He began studying veterinary medicine in Zagreb in 1969 but left in 1974 to pursue photography. He graduated in 1980 from the Department of Cinematography at the Academy of Theatre, Film, and Television under Prof. Nikola Tanhofer and completed his master’s degree in photography in 1984 at the Academy of Applied Arts in Belgrade under Prof. Dragoljub Kažić. His works are part of collections at the Museum of Contemporary Art and the Museum of Arts and Crafts in Zagreb, the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Rijeka, and the Gallery of Fine Arts in Split. Posavec received numerous awards, including the Tošo Dabac Award (1992) and the City of Zagreb Award (2003). He co-founded the MO Group with Mijo Vesović in 1979 and is a prominent member of ULUPUH. Alongside his artistic photography, he worked as a photojournalist for 30 years.
