Slavka Pavić, a Croatian photographer born on October 20, 1927, in Jajce, Bosnia and Herzegovina, was a pioneer of subjective photography. She began her photographic journey in 1951, inspired by her husband, Milan Pavić. Known for her minimalist black-and-white photography, she emphasized formal purity and graphic qualities. Pavić co-founded the Women’s Section of the Zagreb Photo Club and organized the Women Take Photos exhibitions. Among her notable works are A New City is Coming (1960), symbolizing the clash between tradition and modernity, and In Passing (1951). Her achievements were celebrated with numerous awards, including the Vladimir Nazor Lifetime Achievement Award in 2021.
